Why Cortex?

We, at Cortex, have all worked at many different tutoring centres, big and small, and have all came to the same conclusion. We were not impressed. The main concerns we constantly hear from parents are:

1. Large class sizes that make it impossible to concentrate and receive individualised attention from teachers.

2. Not enough time spent on each subject a week since most tuitions only offer WEMT (average 40 minutes a week per subject).

3. A lack of a curriculum as most tuition centres simply go through a large number of random question types instead of following a planned timeline.

Here at Cortex, we have fixed all three problems. Our small class sizes allow every student to be properly heard. Our focus on solely Thinking Skills allows meaningful progress to be made each week. Our structured curriculum ensures all the skills and theory are learnt before we head into any practice.

"We listened to your ideas of the dream tuition and made it a reality."

Why specialise into
Thinking Skills?

In 2020, the N.S.W. government partnered with Cambridge University to rewrite the entire O.C and Selective Test. Out of all the changes, the biggest by far was the introduction of Thinking Skills. Thinking Skills is the most unfamiliar subject in both exams, a section that confused students and parents. From this, the founder of Cortex Academy reasoned that if there was one area where we could help students out the most, it would be Thinking Skills.

Furthermore, Thinking Skills is a subject we all share a passion for. The skills it tests, logical thinking, critical reasoning, problem solving, spatial reasoning, they are all vital to a child's development and imperative to all aspects of our daily lives. By building our students up, from foundation to mastery, our mentorships allow us to ensure the continued growth and developmental progress of your child.
